Do they put you to sleep for laparoscopic surgery?

I'm going to have a laparoscopic appendectomy at the end of this month. Will I be put to sleep for this?

Yes if there is no contraindications to general anesthesia typically you will undergo general anesthesia please make sure you speak to your surgeon and arrange to speak to the anesthesia team as well so your questions are all answered prior to your procedure

Yes, you will have general anesthesia with a breathing tube. The reason is that during laparoscopy, carbon dioxide gas is pumped into your abdominal cavity and it is difficult for you to breath against that pressure yourself. The gas expands your abdomen like a balloon allowing the surgeon to work thru small incisions.
