OB-GYN (Obstetrician-Gynecologist) Questions Pap Smear

The doctor has advised me to undergo pap smear test. Does it hurt?

I went to the doctor and she said that I have to start getting a pap smear when I go, every year for my annual. I'm only 19, and this is really worrying me. Does it hurt?

The new guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists is that PAP smears should start at age 21. However, when you reach that age, it will not hurt. You will experience a little pressure feeling but not pain
Doing Pap test should not hurt unless you have vaginitis
The standard of care is to start pap smear at age 21 - please remind your doc about this - also we can now check STI tests in sexually active young women like you, under 21, by testing the urine so there is no need for a pelvic exam.
The pelvic exam should not be painful, feels like pressure.
Best wishes.
