Psychoanalyst Questions Clinical Depression

Does depression have an effect on sleep?

Since I was diagnosed with clinical depression, or really since I started feeling depressed, I've been having strange dreams more often--and I also remember my dreams too, which doesn't really happen. Does depression have a connection with my dreams?

Not that I know of, although meds may affect dreaming. And of course you are thinking about your situation intensely. Unless the dreams are nightmarish and interfering with sleep, just think of them as messages in code to discuss with your therapist.

It’s a possibility. Medication also, if you are on any. Our daily routine and lives affect our sleep patterns and dreams. Just remember that being able to remember dreams are a plus and can help you understand things better and other reasons. Sometimes dreams are trying to tell us something. Read the signs and use logic and reason with the signs and dreams.
