Pediatrician Questions Hair Growth

Does hair grow faster as children age?

Is hair supposed to grow faster as children get older? I know it can take a while for some kids to need haircuts regularly, but my son is 9 and hasn't needed a haircut in a while. Is this a bad sign about his growth? He's also smaller than a lot of kids his age.

Is he getting the calories he needs? Hypothyroidism can make the hair not grow and easy to fall out. If his hair is thick but slow to grow sometimes it grows in spurts
Hello

Hair growth varies among children. A lot of boys are late bloomers and get their growth spurt around puberty, so he will likely catch up. After puberty, the testosterone will help grow more hair.
