This is a very good question. Periodontal Disease does not go by itself actually it might get worse if you do not get sooner the necessary treatment. One thing about periodontal disease make you lose bone around your teeth and regenerating bone back again will be very difficult without major surgeries like bone graft or LANAP/Laser Treatment. If you suspect you have periodontal disease, it will be ideal to see a dentist to find out the severity of the dx and recommend tx according to it.
If on your own means continuing the oral health habits that caused it in the first place... then no.
Periodontal disease is diagnosed when there is bone loss and pocket depth of 5mm or greater. Leaving such a situation alone can only lead it to getting worse.
The bacteria found in periodontal pockets can cause inflammation and even clots in the blood ... damage possible to the organs is extensive.
No

The short answer is no. See your dentist if  you suspect you have any type of gum disease.
No. You must have treatment by a dentist.
Absolutely not.
It only goes away when your teeth are kept properly clean, depending on the severity and your ability to clean it yourself, it will usually not go away as you clearly have not been able to do the job properly by yourself or in the past, or perhaps your dentist was not able to do the job properly. It will also depend on your nutrition, lifestyle, and the extent of damage already done to the bone.

Absolutely not. Periodontal disease is a progressive disease that only gets worse with time. The end result is a loss of teeth. There is currently only one way to treat the disease and that is with Periodontal treatment. The treatment consists of a Scale and Root Planning (deep cleaning) and subsequent follow-up cleanings (perio maintenance). On top of all that, the patient must maintain a rigorous home care habits to slow the disease. I suggest you go to your dental office immediately if you value your teeth. Get a second opinion if you want to be sure.
Most likely not. It will need treatment, and a significant amount to get rid of it. It will probably take at least a year or two of going every 3 months.

In only one case does it go away on its own...pregnancy inflammation. In most cases, it gets worse without treatment.
No. Once you have periodontitis - bone loss, you can’t reverse it...but once you treat it, it can be maintained. Only gingivitis can be reverse- which is the beginning stages of gum disease. Periodontitis is bone loss and once you lose bone, you can’t grow it back.
