Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Fluid retention

Does my dad have to be on Dytor all his life?

The doctor has advised my dad (age 67) to be on Dytor medicine due to his water retention problem. Will it be a lifelong commitment?

Most likely yes. Again, it depends on the cause of the water retention. But your father can try a low-salt diet, fluid restriction, etc.
Yes, unless you see a Chinese medicine doctor to apply herbal treatment.
Yes, he may have to. I recommend a low-salt diet, and taper the medicine when he doesn’t have any swelling.
