Pharmaceutical Medicine Questions Headache

What medication is best to give a child when they have a headache?

My 11 year old daughter unfortunately suffers with headaches. I get worried when giving her medication, so I am wondering which medication is the most effective in helping with a headache in a child her age?

Hi,

If you don’t know the cause of the headache, you can try acetaminophen, or paracetamol. If the symptom doesn’t improve, get medical advice.
The best over-the-counter treatment is tylenol or advil liquigel caps, 2 caps or tablets by mouth at once not to exceed 6 per day. However, I prefer the referral to the family doctor because the headache can occur from different reasons like stress or not having enough sleep. It's better to find out the cause through proper diagnosis to get the right treatment.
