Naturopathic Physician Questions Hair Loss

Are henna leaves helpful in treating hair loss?

I have been trying natural remedies to treat hair loss but nothing has been too successful. Do henna leaves help in treating hair loss? I've heard they do but I'm not sure how.

I am not sure about that. I know henna is used as hair dye. It would be a good idea to get a work up to determine the cause of the hair loss.
While I’m not familiar with using henna leaves for hair growth, only for hair dye, many cases of hair loss are related to a combo of nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalance, stresses and can even have emotional ties. Please see my previous couple of posts where I go into detail on the nutrients and hormones related to hair loss. This is a common issue - you’re not alone!
I have never used henna leaves for hair loss. What we use is a proprietary blend of botanicals along with collagen and if needed Spironolactone.
Hair loss can be caused from multiple reasons including hormone imbalance, an infection (think cradle cap but not), a nutrient deficiency. So, most patients need a multifaceted approach to stop and hopefully reverse it. However, in my clinical experience I can't say that I've seen Henna leaves help.
Yes, but make sure your thyroid and adrenal functions are OK. Then look at your stress as it tightens the roots (follicles) of the hair.Lavender essential oil drops to pillows for sleep and to scalp
Henna working by strengthening the shaft of the hair. While henna is NOT a protein, the hair shaft is strengthened like it is. Henna contains tannins which has astringent like properties that can help soothe/cleanse the scalp. For someone with dandruff, dermatitis or another inflammatory scalp condition, henna can help, so with a reduction of those scalp conditions, hair can grow better. I will not say that it is not possible to regrow hair on a bald spot with henna, but I have not personally seen henna do that.
