Posterior hip precautions.
The precautions necessary after hip surgery depend on The type of approach used. There are different precautions for an anterior versus a posterior approach. In general extremes of flexion and crossing the legs for a posterior approach is initially important. Major other concerns would be those of balance and also stepping off and object such as a curb or ladder. Once strength Balance have returned restriction should be minimal. Your surgeon should discuss these with you.
Traditionally hip replacements have been from the back and there are restrictions regarding flexing at the hip and crossing your legs for the first 6 weeks. Anterior hip replacements have their own precautions but are not really adhered to.
Depends on type of approach. Talk to your surgeon. Anterior approaches may be preferred.
It depends on the surgical approach and the stability of the hip. In general avoid flexion and internal rotation.
