Sports Medicine Specialist Questions head pain

ā€œWhile swimming I hit my head on the wall. What should I do?ā€

I was swimming yesterday evening and I ended up hitting my head on the wall. It's still hurting, especially when I touch it. What should I do?

The main thing Iā€™m concerned about is a concussion. I would monitor your symptoms closely. Most common symptoms of a concussion are headache and fatigue. You can also have sensitivity to light, sound, and increased irritability. Avoid any hits to the head for the next 1 to 2 weeks just to be extra careful. If your symptoms worsen, consider being evaluated by a sports medicine doctor.
Head trauma, if significant, needs doctor evaluation.

Give it time. Should get better all by itself. Can use ice the first 48 hours and take tylenol. I assume you have no concussion symptoms.
As long as you are thinking, seeing, and otherwise feeling okay, there's nothing to do except be careful next time.
I have done that more times than I want to admit. If you did not have any symptoms of concussion.....Down load Free app ConcussionMD and read RTP criteria.
The bump itself is in material if no other symptoms.
