My son had a hole in his heart that we got operated on. Will it cause him to have a problem in the future?

Usually not
If the operation was successful, there should not be any problem.
Most of the holes in the heart that are surgically closed have an excellent long-term outlook. However, there may be cases in which this may not be true, depending on the type of hole, associated conditions, and intra-operative issues.
