Cystic acne should be treated early and aggressively with the help of a dermatologist to prevent permanent scarring. In general a combined at hoem and in-office treatment regimen is necessary to control nodulocystic acne. Strong prescription topical medications, sometimes oral antibiotics and the in-office use of intralesional anti-inflammatory injections are needed to control this condition and prevent or minimize scarring.
