Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Diabetes

How often should I get my creatinine levels checked on?

I have been diabetic for the last 3 years. Apart from my blood sugar testing, how often do you think I should get my creatinine levels checked?

If you have CKD your nephrologist will check this frequently. If you don’t then your pcp should be following guidelines set by her specialty for your risk of ckd.
1 time per 6 months. After one year, if creatinine is normal, then only one time per year.
