If it’s a minor problem brush and floss. Rinse with peroxyl or close mouthwash. Eat soft food for a few days. If problems persist, go see the dentist.
You may have a gum infection that requires an antibiotic - so see a dentist. Whatever gum problem you have it will help to rinse three times a day after meals for 7 days with a peroxide mouth rinse such as Peroxyl and starting the same day twice daily between meals for 14 days rinse with a Chlorhexidine mouthwash such as Savacol
Gum pain can from from many types of causes. Can be from the gums themselves or underlying bone or teeth. Please see your dentist as pain is not normal and should be evaluated.

I would recommend to visit a dentist and get X-rays as gum disease is a silent disease and you should have it evaluated.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, it is not a normal circumstance to have gum pain. This indicates that something is wrong. Even though you may not be able to visually see a problem in the mirror, it does not mean that you are not in need of professional attention to resolve gum disease, a gum infection, or even a tooth infection. Any of those can be the source of your gum pain. Therefore, in answer to your direct question as to what you can do at home to resolve your issue, I would say that you would be making an error in judgement by trying to do so. I cannot begin to imagine what the source of your gum pain is. Therefore, my recommendation to you is to seek dental care as soon as possible in order to avoid the situation from escalating into something more severe than it already is at this time. In this instance, self-diagnosis and treatment will surely lead to future pains, headaches, and heartaches.
Good luck.
Gum pain may be an indication of other problems if you do not see anything visibly wrong with the gums. For example, if you have an infected tooth, pressing on the gums next to the tooth may be painful. However, it may be that the bone underneath the gum is tender.

If proper brushing and flossing does not prevent pain in your gums, an evaluation by your dentist will help to determine the cause. Your dentist will inspect your tooth and will generally take an x-ray to examine the bone around the tooth. It is difficult to determine a proper treatment without knowing the cause of the pain.
