“How do doctors diagnose fatty liver disease?”

Fatty liver is extremely common. It can be alcoholic or nonalcoholic. The diagnosis involves liver imaging like ultrasound, MRI showing fatty infiltration of the liver and blood tests can facilitate the diagnosis as well. Sometimes a liver biopsy is needed, but the noninvasive methods available are very good and the rates of liver biopsy have decreased significantly.
