Wear a personal custom fit night guard made by your dentist
You are probably referring to Temporal-Mandibular Disease (TMD) of the Temporal-Mandibular Joint (TMJ). If you notice yourself clenching your teeth during exercise, at rest, or during stressful time, try to be aware of that and limit the time you clench. You can also consider visiting a dentist or TMJ specialist dentist for recommendations such as a night guard/occlusal guard.
It is very difficult to relax your jaw if you have TMJ. It depends on the reasons and causes of TMJ in each patient to be able to recommend correct treatment for affected TMJ. You need to see dental professional advice in-person.
Try using warm moist compresses, like heating a wet washcloth in the microwave to a warm but not hot temperature. Ibuprofen can be good for TMJ pain, as well. Talk to your dentist about other specific things you can do or a referral to a specialist if it is affecting you often.
