Major Depressive disorder is treated with Antidepressant medications sometimes in combination with other type of medications particularly for treatment resistant depression and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Counseling combined with medication is often recommended for the treatment of major depressive disorder.

The usual treatment consists of antidepressant medications, an adjuvant medications if needed, and psychotherapy.
