It is done by blood, urine, skin infected material or nasal secretions for sign of bacteria. A tissue or wound culture is done from the infected area. The symptoms of staphylococcus include redness, swelling, and pain at the site of infection. Thank you.
Diagnosis will depend on the site of the infection. Reoccurring pustules can be opened and the material inside cultured. Obtaining a culture and sensitivities to the antibiotic will be a tremendous guide for your pediatrician. Reoccurring sinus infections nasal cultures are generally not helpful. Treatment empirically with irrigation and antibiotics.

Hello

Usually a Staph infection can be diagnosed clinically with out any tests. If testing is done, it is usually from fluid and this grown in a lab. Hope he feels better.
Usually you do a wound culture. If there is high fever you may also do a blood culture to make sure sepsis is not present.
