How is eyelid surgery done?

I am a 32 year old female and I want to have eyelid surgery. How is eyelid surgery done?

It is rare for a 32-year-old to require eyelid surgery unless there is something called ptosis present, which is a form of eyelid drooping or significant redundant upper eyelid skin because of genetic factors.
Good luck.
There are probably dozens of "eyelid surgeries" one can have, so it's very difficult to be specific. The most common one is an upper lid "tuck" or blepharoplasty. This is performed by using the fold of skin found in most eyelids as an entry point so there is no extra scar formed.
First, an evaluation is needed. At 32 years of age usually what patients notice is extra upper eyelid skin which may form a double fold. It may obscure upper eyelid show and make it interfere with your ability to apply makeup. There are now nonsurgical methods to considerably tighten the skin equal to a surgical result an I use Fibroblast which is new and returns the elastin tightening of the skin and may be 20-30% tighter. It gives results equal or even better than surgery as perinatal sin anti aging was achieved with doesn't happen with surgery. There is no change in color of the eyelid skin, performed with topical anesthetic, no sedation, no treatment for pain, no risk of dry eye, heals in three to four days, and looks great with no skin color change bruising and is permanent except for future aging. It is permanent anti aging and tightening of skin. Also it returns your eyelids to the same as when about 10 or 15 years younger and no scar. You can drive to the appointment yourself as if a dental appointment. It is much less expensive. If you have significant excess skin and lateral upper fullness and possibly a small amount of extra medial protuberance, then surgery would be the best treatment. This is more expensive. I have raised the lateral brow slightly as well through the eyelid incision. Conservation of orbital adipose tissue is important at this age. If she has asymmetry, or very low brows and bothers her and wants to have a different look, this can be done usually with upper eyelid incisions only but can also have a brow lift with additional small incisions added in the scalp which are behind the hairline and heal very well and unnoticeable. Remember that this patient is 32 and at this age ”less is more”. Anti aging of skin around eyes including lateral skin an lower eyelid skin should be included and can be very successful with self treatment as recommended by a plastic surgeon as prescription strength agents are necessary for permanent rejuvenation.
Eyelid surgery is done through tiny incisions on the inside of the eyelid as well as on the eyelash line and in the upper crease. On average, 90% of patients are back to normal within 2 weeks. Typically, there is some redness in the eyelid area especially where the incisions are made, which improve over the first 3-5 days. There are no sutures that Dr. Nguyen removes after the surgery, since they are all dissolvable sutures. There is very mild discomfort after this type of surgery and some patients may not require pain medication after. There can be some minimal swelling and bruising the first week, however within our practice, our patients heal pretty quickly due to the surgical vitamins they take before and after the surgery to help expedite the swelling & bruising.
Eyelid surgery is done under local or general anesthesia. The excess skin of the upper eyelid is removed and sutured in the eyelid crease. The lower eyelid fat is removed through an incision on the inside of the eyelid.
Thanks for your question! Eyelid surgery can be done in multiple ways depending on the needs of the patient. Typically, upper lid skin is removed and any excess fat can be addressed. The lower lid is most often addressed with an internal incision to avoid a scar. Excess fat is removed and then the skin can be laser removed to improve its appearance.
Hope this helps.

I'm assuming that UR discussing upper eyelid surgery. Upper eyelid surgery is usually performed under local anesthesia. It takes approximately 45 minutes in the office. A small incision is made in the natural skin crease of the upper eyelid. The amount of excess skin to be excised as measured and subsequently excised. The incision is then closed. It is your choice. You could be done under local anaesthesia and sedation. Alternatively you could be put to sleep.
