It depends on the size and type of filling and whether or not you will need to be numb. In general, you can expect about 30 minutes.
A dental filling can take anywhere from 30 min to 2 hours depending on how many teeth require fillings and the complexity of the filling per tooth.
There is no answer to this question without more information. What kind of filling material, how large a cavity, skill of the dentist. Silver fillings could be done in 15 minutes after being numb, white fillings/bonded fillings a bit longer. Gold foil could be in hours, and inlays - gold or porcelain, in days. Ask your dentist since he knows what he plans on using.
A straightforward dental filling should take about 30 minutes.
Whenever you are having dental work done, you want the work done personally. It's one thing when it is an emergency, but it is not a race. When I was working in a hospital, the surgeons in one area were having a contest to see who could do this one procedure the fastest. The winner was 22 minutes. It's one thing if it is a life or death situation. I know today people want everything instantly. Our bodies don't heal instantly. Your tooth will be finished when it is finished.
Every filling will be different depending on the tooth and its condition to begin with. Bring headphones and just relax until it's finished!
