How long does it take for nerves to heal after foot surgery?

I am a 37 year old female. I will have foot surgery next week. How long does it take for nerves to heal after foot surgery?

The answer is it depends on the technique, surgeon preference of surgical approach, hardware or no hardware, and after care.
6-8 weeks
The nerves in the skin sometimes do not heal and the scar can stay numb, most of the time though they return in a few weeks. It depends on the amount of swelling you have after surgery. If you elevate your foot above heart level the swelling allows the nerves to heal quicker.
Several months to a year
Sometimes it can take a year for numbness to resolve.
You never get an end result until a year down the line. Surgery is traumatic. Things need time to heal. Don't baby it too much to prevent the nerves from getting inflamed. But don't overdo it either.
Nerve pain can take up to a year post-op to improve. I would recommend use of voltaren gel.
Sometimes up to a year
Nerve healing is slow and can often take up to a year depending upon the injury. Some numbness may be permanent
Hello,

Anytime you have surgery, nerves will be cut just to the skin incision. The majority of branches are avoided. In the event of a nerve injury, it can take nerve function to return in 6 weeks to 6 months.

It depends on what type of surgery are having. It is just a normal surgery of cutting the skin and soft tissue as well as bone, then the healing is mainly associated with the soft tissue and bone. Nerves take a little bit longer than normal tissue to heal so it depends on the type of procedure that is being done.

Nerves are usually slow to heal. I recommend you discuss with your surgeon for the approximate time frame for recovery
A risk of surgery is permanent numbness if the nerves are damaged.
Nerves are not usually cut during surgery, but if a nerve is lacerated, the sensation and function from that nerve may never come back. Most people's nerves are stretched during the process of surgery, and this may result in temporary numbness. This temporary numbness may last for 2-6 months after surgery-sometimes longer, and many people have no numbness, whatsoever
