Ophthalmologist Questions Ophthalmologist

How long does it take to get glasses from the eye doctor?

My 11 year old daughter squints and needs glasses. I want to know how long does it take to get glasses from the eye doctor?

This is a very local neighborhood question. Call around to the eye doctors you might end up seeing and ask them. Online information will not provide specific answers, you need to talk to a live person who works where you will buy the glasses. National chains are pretty quick, sometimes even 1-2 hours after exam or upon receiving your prescription from somewhere else. Local eye shops often contract out to labs; in that case, 5-7 days. If the prescription is unusual or includes special features (like prism), it may take weeks. Kids' frames always take longer.
It depends. I am an ophthalmologist, I don’t sell glasses. You need to talk to your optician.

Once you get a new prescription and pick out a pair of frames, it usually takes one to two weeks to get your new glasses.
