How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?

I am a 48 year old male. I will have a tooth extraction. How long does it take to recover from a tooth extraction?

It depends on the diagnosis that is making the extraction necessary and the difficulty of the surgery. Typically, you will feel fine within 2-3 days.
How long the recovery takes really depends on how difficult the tooth turns out to be. If it is a simple extraction (tooth just needs to be "wiggled" out), then you can resume normal activities right away. In some cases, the extraction may require surgery, in which case you can expect to have some swelling, stiffness, and soreness for a couple of days.

USUALLY, YOU PROBABLY CAN RETURN TO WORK THE NEXT DAY. FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS. THE NEXT DAY, YOU PROBABLY MAY BE ABLE TO RINSE YOUR MOUTH WITH WARM SALT WATER. RINSING SEVERAL TIMES A DAY ESPECIALLY AFTER EATING IS IMPORTANT. AT WORK, YOU PROBABLY HAVE SALT PACKETS THAT YOU CAN DISSOLVE IN WARM WATER AND RINSE YOUR MOUTH IN THE EMPLOYEES FACILITIES. MOST PEOPLE THINK SALT WATER DOES NOTHING. YOU WILL BE SURPRISED AT WHAT SALT WATER CAN DO.
