Plastic Surgeon Questions Rhinoplasty

How long would I need to wear a splint after a nose job?

I'm planning on getting a nose job soon. In fact, I scheduled it for the beginning of March, and I have to say, I'm pretty excited for it. However, me and my surgeon didn't really discuss how long the recover would be yet. I do know that I'll need to wear a splint. How long would I need to wear it, and how long would I need to allow for myself to recover?

This is a great question to discuss with your board certified plastic surgeon. Typically you can expect to be in the splint for 7 days and often some steristrip tapes after for another week. Each surgeon develops a unique plan to the specific patient so be sure to follow up with them!
Your best bet is to ask your doctor. I leave splints on my patients for 5-7 days -- other doctors may do things differently.

Thank you for the inquiry. The splint in general about 2 weeks. Sometimes the nose is splinted longer with paper tape to decrease the swelling. In general, surgeon's preference. The best is to discuss it with your surgeon. Swelling and residual hematomas may take 4-6 weeks to subside. During that time, ice is a good idea. Good luck with your surgery.

Usually about one week but it varies with the extent of the operation.
I leave nasal splints on for 4-5 days. They serve two purposes: protection and help to minimize swelling.
