How painful is a dental implant?

I am a 40 year old male. I want to get dental implants but am afraid of pain. How painful is a dental implant?

It is not painful.
Hello,

It is good that you have interest in your health care. However, dental implants are not usually painful. Discomfort and swelling that maybe associated with getting dental implants is usually because the dental implant was put in the same day as the tooth was extracted. It is the extraction that may have discomfort or swelling, not the dental implant. In a way, this is good news; if you have had an extraction and that does not bother you, then you know the addition of a dental implant will not bother you.
Hope this helps.

My best to you!

Dental implants are not normally very painful if there is little gum tissue involvement. If the gum tissue has to be reflected to place the implant it can cause some discomfort. The less tissue involvement the less pain or discomfort.
There are no nerves in the bone except major nerves very deep and implants should not be placed in that area, ever.
Not much. Compared to extraction, it is barely painful.
