Dermatologist Questions Scar removal

How should I remove old scars?

I have an old scar on my neck from my curling iron, and I want to have it removed. It looks like a permanent hicky. What can I do to remove it?

A photo would be quite helpful. But, it sounds from the history like a hyperpigmented burn scar. Burn scars characteristically possess both textural and color irregularities. Both of these issue can be effectively improved with the use of professional microneedling accompanied by the topical application of prescription strength skin lightening medications. Surgical revision surgery often replaces one scar with another, so I prefer the above to this option.
Has to be evaluated by a board certified dermatologist to see if amenable to laser, etc.
Dermatologists can reduce color or thickness of scar, but may not be perfect. Surgical removal is also possible, but risk possible re-scarring.
See your dermatologist for options. Laser treatment might be able to help it appear better.
