How to recover from getting braces?

My 10-year-old daughter just got braces and feels very sore. How to recover from getting braces?

First few days are the most uncomfortable. Stick to soft food and pain medicine as needed.
It hurts the first day but the pain should subside by a day or two. Give your child motrin or tylenol for the soreness.
Time and regular dosing or some pain meds. I recommend something like Ibuprofen.
Discomfort usually lasts for about 3 days and then tapers down over the next 3 days. If you are experiencing discomfort after 1 week, you should return to your doctor and let him evaluate the situation.

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is a period of time, approximately 7-10 days, in which new braces are uncomfortable. The best way to deal with sore teeth are Tylenol as needed and a soft diet. Pasta, mashed potatoes, soup are all great choices. Also, ice cream, smoothies, milk shakes are all fabulous because the cold makes sore teeth feel better. After this adjustment period things should get much better and it will be worth it in the end when your child has a fabulous smile.
Hang in there!
That is a hard one. Typically, there are points during braces that will hurt more. Periodically, they will change the wires which generates more force on the teeth. As the teeth move there is less force after a few days and the braces feel better. I would recommended taking a dose of ibuprofen just before going to the orthodontist and maybe for a few days afterwards to help her feel more comfortable.

Use everything your orthodontist gave you. Use was on brackets to make them more comfortable. Take Tylenol or ibuprofen. Eat a softer diet. Keep your teeth clean. You can also look at internet suggestions for a more exhaustive list of things that might help.
