Hematology-Pathologist Questions Fatigue

How would I know if my iron levels are too low?

I'm only 35 years old and I experience a lot of fatigue. I heard that low iron can cause tiredness, but I feel like I have plenty of it in my diet. What tests must be done?

As a primary care doctor I would do a complete blood count, maybe other tests if you're on meds we worry about. If the blood count looks like iron deficiency anemia, we usually just give iron pills and recheck the lab in a month or two to be sure they worked.
