Pulmonologist Questions

hyperinflated lungs

Hey there! Do lungs grow longer with hyperinflation? They weren't looking for that, but I got a chest CT and xray. My previous PFT showed possible hyperinflation. However, they said my central airways were clear on the CT, and they had to take 2 xrays to get my full lungs and commented on how long they are. Could that still be hyperinflation or is that likely my anatomy, if nothing was mentioned in the official write-up? Could that could possibly account for the larger lung volume than expected on the CPT?

Would like to see your PFT. would have them check an alpha 1 anti-trypsin genotype to rule out the deficiency causing emphysema. This can be treated with replacement therapy.
