Prosthodontist Questions Tooth implant

I knocked out my two front teeth. What's the procedure for implants?

I knocked out my two front teeth while fighting with my friend (play fighting, keep in mind). I want to get implants to replace them. What's the procedure for this?

That is a difficult and loaded question. When you get your consultation, make sure to let the dental provider know about your history of trauma to the area. Implants usually need 4-6 months to heal before you put a crown on them, so you will need temporary teeth there while you heal. Most patients use a partial denture during that time. After your implants are ready to restore, you will need to reshape the tissue, and have final crowns made. The whole process will take approximately 4-8 months to do.
Best is to preserve as much bone as possible. This means an additonal procedure needs to be done at the same time when pulling teeth called Socket Preservation. This will help stabilize and preserve as much bone as possible to then later be able to place implants.
Evaluate in 3 dimensions the condition of the surrounding bone and then formulate a plan accordingly. Is there enough bone remaining as it is?, does bone grafting have to be done? What are the characteristics of the bite and surrounding teeth? a lot goes into that answer.
Sorry to hear that. the procedure can be very simple if the injury did not cause any bone destruction or infection. Need to start with a thorough examination, X-rays, scan impressions to get a good idea of your situation. If all is good, you get the implants surgically placed and after usually a healing period of 4 months, you get the final impressions for the permanent crowns.
Stay safe.
You need to have a consultation and X-rays to determine if there is adequate bone in the area to support implants. If not, a permanent bridge is another alternative.
Usually a 3-D scan of the bone where the teeth are missing, would be the first step. Some damage may be present in the remaining bone since the teeth were "lost" via a traumatic event. The scan would be studied to determine the best placement of implants. A model of your mouth would be done to design the future teeth. You would likely wear a "retainer-like" tooth replacement until the procedures are complete.
The implants would be placed into the bone and allowed to heal adequately, as determined by the surgeon putting the implants into the bone. Then, replacement teeth will be made and connected onto the implants.
First, to see you at the practice, make an exam, evaluate the area clinically and X-Rays need to be taken, do a very Thorough exam to diagnosis, prognosis and Tx. Plan with different options.
If you have adequate bone , evaluated by 3D scan, the implants are placed by a skilled and experienced dentist (general practitioner, periodontist, oral surgeon).
The implants are left without any kind of artificial tooth ( a crown) for 4 months. The implants are then fitted with artificial crowns much like those that are placed on teeth.
Very simple. Many times implants and temporary resin replacements can be placed in the same day. See a prosthodontist so that your front teeth will not only function perfect but also look and feel Great!
First and foremost you need to find a surgeon who is well qualified to place the implants! Then I would suggest a prosthodontist to restore them. Yes they can look very realistic.
4-6 month from the surgical procedure to complete replacement.
You need to seek for a dentist who has experience in implants. Prosthodontist are specialized in this area. The first step is to have a consultation and discuss tax plan and steps. Then you will be getting your implants and then they need 4 months for the bone to regenerate and integrate. On the mean time you will be wearing a temporary appliance so you can have teeth. Once implants are integrated your restorative dentist will make impressions to begin fabricating your new crowns.
A Periodontist or Oral Surgeon can replace your teeth with implants. Sometimes a bone graft is needed as trauma could have damaged some existing bone.
You need bone to have implant integration.
Sorry to hear about your 2 front teeth trauma. Best is to see an expert dentist for evaluation of your bone, gums, and bite. After all options will be given, depending on your bone density. Implant surgery requires 2 visit ( root placement with titanium fixture) about 3 to 4 month apart. After you can start restorative procedure the crown part.
