Internal Medicine | Sleep Medicine Questions Night Terrors

I think my child has night terrors. What should I do?

My child has been waking up rather suddenly throughout the night, sometimes screaming. When I ask what happened, she doesn't remember what had woke her up. I don't think these are regular nightmares. Could they be night terrors? Why could she be having them?

Sleep terrors are common in children at age 2-5 years and usually disappear with age. Usually, it comes the first half of the night. If you noticed more repetitive movement and no improvement, you should take her to a sleep specialist to evaluate her for sleep seizures.
