I am a 37 year old man and I am suddenly feeling that my left thumb is twitching a lot. I have been suffering from cervical disc herniation for the last six months. Could the increased twitching in the thumb be a sign of deterioration in my condition?

I doubt your disk herniation is to blame for increased twitching. I would be more concerned if muscles innervated by a specifically compressed nerve root are weak or sensation is impaired. Twitches (fasciculations) that are more widespread or progressive would also be of greater concern me.

It could be a different reason. You need to see your primary care provider for some tests and blood work.
Yes, if your disc herniation is at the level that innervates that thumb. I hope you've gotten therapy for that disc problem by now.
twitching/fasciculations in itself is not a sign of disc herniation. Weakness, numbness, tingling, and decreased reflexes are more common signs of disc herniation. Also, remember, many people have herniated discs without any pain or symptoms. Do not get caught up on the MRI results as most people recover with rehabilitation.
This is one possibility. Or it could be fatigue or a number of other things. Without further testing, it is impossible to determine if your condition is worsening.
