Nephrologist (Kidney Specialist) Questions Insulin Injections

Will insulin injections affect my kidneys?

My doctor has advised me to start taking insulin injections 3 times a day to control my blood sugar levels. Is this likely to damage my kidneys in any way?

Not likely. Improving your blood sugar control may be helpful in preventing many complications of diabetes. If your kidneys have thus far not been affected by diabetes, improving your sugars may help prevent kidney disease. If your kidneys are already damaged by diabetes, better sugar control will not improve your kidneys. Using insulin will not likely hurt your kidneys.

Your blood sugar is to the point you should start insulin, otherwise, the high blood sugars even more demagnetized the kidney and arteries. But you have to eat more green foods and smart protein, not sugar and carbohydrate-rich foods. Meanwhile, exercise little by little, and only inject 1 time after dinner.
