Is an eye exam the same for glasses and contacts?

I am a 30 year old female. I wonder if an eye exam is the same for glasses and contacts?

Sequentially during an eye examination, the vision and need for glasses is measured and then a few measurements or fitting is done for contact lenses depending upon your needs.
There are additional measurements besides the general eye examination that must be taken for fitting contact lenses.
The eye exam including refractions is the same. Additional exam of corneal curvature and health to determine best type of contact for you may also be done.
No. you need extra measurements for a contact lens fitting. Usually you will need to have a trial contact lens fitting in the office as well. An eye exam is usually intended to examine your eyes for health (glaucoma, cataracts, and other eye and sometimes systemic disorders.)
There are a few extra tests for fitting contacts. They may not be covered by the exam charge for glasses.
Good luck.
