Is chickenpox vaccine safe?

My child will get a chickenpox vaccine. Is chickenpox vaccine safe?

Yes, the varicella vaccine is very safe. We should not forget the morbidity and also forgotten mortality that can occur with varicella disease to young and old.
Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccine is an effective and safe vaccine for most normal children. It is contraindicated in children with history of allergic reaction to components of the vaccine such as neomycin and gelatin, immunosuppressed children such as those with blood or solid cancers, or those taking medications that suppress immunity. Caution is advised in those on Aspirin or who have received blood products containing antibodies in the last 3-11 months.
