Proctologist Questions Colonoscopy

Is colonoscopy painful?

I'm 40 years old and my doctor is already recommending that I get a colonoscopy. I thought this was something that needed to be done in my 50s. Is this a painful procedure?

Colonoscopy is generally performed under IV sedation so there is usually no discomfort. This also depends on the skill of the endoscopist.
No. Colonoscopy is not a painful procedure. It is done in an outpatient setting with sedation so you don’t feel anything.
