Is a hysterectomy recommended for cervical cancer?

I have a family history of cervical cancer and I want to prevent it from developing in me (my grandmother had it). Do you think I should have a partial hysterectomy for this? I'm not planning on having kids and I'm 27 years old.

In general terms the answer is no. Furthermore if you wanted to prevent cervical cancer you would need to have a total hysterectomy with removal of the cervix although they could leave the ovaries behind. Nevertheless with careful yearly screening by your gynecologist if one were to ever develop it would be likely identified very early.
