Transplant Surgeon Questions Chronic Kidney Disease

Is a kidney transplant better than dialysis?

My friend is on dialysis for chronic kidney disease, and he's now considering a kidney transplant instead. Is a kidney transplant better than being on dialysis? He's also 47 years old.

Yes, a kidney transplant is definitely better than being on hemodialysis for lots of reasons, including a better quality of life, especially if they are as young as your friend, decreased risk for cardiovascular events, and a longer life after a kidney transplant.
Yes. Transplant offers several benefits over dialysis. Each patient needs to be evaluated to better understand the risks and benefits of all available options.
Usually if your kidney is not failure but creatinine is higher this why let patient start dialysis first and give patient time to manage or improving kidney function if dialysis does not work for patient and kidney transplant is next stage which is better dialysis
No matter what the disease that put him on dialysis, the survival is better with a transplant, and the "way of life" is better (by a long shot--who wants to be on dialysis?) Good luck to him, and hope that he gets a kidney soon!
