Proctologist Questions Mucus in Stool

Is mucus in stool a medical emergency?

I'm 42, and yesterday I noticed that I had mucus in my stool. I haven't been experiencing any stomach pains or cramps alongside this. Is this a medical emergency?

It's not an emergency however you may need a colonoscopy to rule out inflammatory bowel disease like crohn's or ulcerative colitis.
This is not a medical emergency but you should have it checked out by a colon and rectal surgeon in the near future to determine the cause.
