Is surgery to remove the appendix dangerous?

I am a 17 year old male. I have an inflamed appendix. Is surgery to remove the appendix dangerous?

The BIG danger is if the appedix is gangrenous or has already ruptered.
An appendectomy (appendix removal) is generally a well-tolerated and safe operation. Risks are mostly related to rupture of the appendix, leading to infection in the incisions, abscess in the abdomen, or needing to have an open operation with a large incision.
