My left eye begins to water from light exposure. What could be the problem?

My left eye starts watering as I step out in the sun. It's accompanied by the feeling you get in the eye when it's about to start tearing. What could be the problem?

Your eyes are most likely have an underlying dry eye issue. Watery eyes can be a sign of an insufficient tear quality and should be evaluated by an eye care professional.
It may be due to an infection or inflammation in the eye or maybe your eye is sensitive to light. Try wearing light-sensitive glasses and if the problem persists then contact your eye doctor.

Stepping into bright light stimulates pupil constriction. Depending on how bright, reflex tearing can also be stimulated. If the eye is dry or irritated, or if the oil layer is not functioning properly, this tearing can be more excessive. Have your eyes checked by your eye doctor to determine the cause and how to treat it.
This sounds like an ocular surface issue: something like an irritated cornea or dry eye. Occasionally, if someone has some internal inflammation in the eye, they can become light sensitive in one eye also. I would recommend seeing your local eye care provider.

If this is new, you need to see your eye doctor asap. This could be a sign of infection. If it is ongoing, then you could need glasses. You should always wear sunglasses outdoors, preferrably polarized
