Orthopaedic Surgeon (Pediatric) Questions Gait Abnormalities

My son has had a limp ever since he started walking. Can this be treated surgically?

My son has a slight limp which started pretty much as soon as he started walking. What exams are done to find out the cause of this, and is it something that might have to treated surgically?

First, he needs a thorough physical exam to make sure the legs are the same length and the folds at the back of the legs are even. Then, an X-ray of the hips to make sure there's no hips dysplasia. If this is present, he may need surgery.
