Ear-Nose and Throat Doctor (Pediatric) Questions Emergency Care

My 3 year old shoved a bead in his nose and I can't get it out!

My 3 old son got into his older sister's beading kit and shoved one of the beads up his nostril. I can't get it out! He seems fine but the bead is definitely up there! Should I wait until he can get into see the pediatrician or should I take him to the emergency room?

He should be taken to the ER - ideally one that has an ENT physician.

An old school solution involves blowing into his mouth at the same time using your finger placing pressure on the side of the nose that is not clogged.
You need to go to the emergency room. There is always a slight possibility that a foreign body in the nose will fall back and the child can aspirate the foreign body into the lungs. The adage is that the sun should never set on a foreign body of the nose. Good luck.
The best and safest thing to do is to go to the ED and get it removed immediately. If your pediatrician can see you within the same time frame, that works as well. However, it is always important to make sure nothing else has been out in the nose or any other orifices, which doctors should check out.
