My wife has been diagnosed with a neoplasia and a fibroid in her uterus. According to the doctor, the fibroid will have to be surgically removed through a hysterectomy procedure. Is it the only option?

Depends upon the type of neoplasia and the size of the fibroid. Unless she is of a childbearing age, it is simpler to get the uterus out.

If your wife has been diagnosed with a high grade cervical dysplasia or carcinoma in situ, then hysterectomy is the only surgical cure. If her cervical pathology is benign, then small fibroids can usually be removed during operative hysteroscopy.
