“How can I get my son to not be scared of the dark?”
My son is scared of the dark, and it's becoming a real problem. What should we do to get him to stop being afraid?

Night light. Keep door open. Stay with him varying the time and distance from the door until you gradually decrease your time in the room and move closer to door
Notice him in daylight. What is he timid about. Address those things. Talk to him about how when you understand something it takes away the mystery and fear. Anything we understand we can handle. Tell him that the two of you will figure out what scares him, and that will help you figure out what scares him in the dark. There will be a correlation. Give him a nightlight in the meantime. (Sometimes, such fears are based upon hidden truths that the child can't tell, like his fear of going to daycare, or his fear of being with grandma or a stepdad.) Sometimes there's something legitimate behind the fear. He may be too young to be handed off, or maybe, if he was when he was a baby or toddler, he is afraid of being taken. Figure it out and talk about it. Help if you have help to offer.
If he is young then don’t worry but if he is 15 and up then it can possibly be something that is associated with the dark, meaning no control over something happening, etc.
How old is he? 20? 2? Makes a big difference! If he is little, don’t make a big deal over it. Play games, use puppets, dolls - play therapy methods. If he is older than 4 or 5, consult a child psychologist.
Contact an energy therapist. Someone who does techniques such as Emotion Code. Or who treats allergies with other energy therapy techniques.
You can think of your son's fears either as a form of ptsd, or as an allergy to the dark. Shop around. If there's no energy therapist in your area, many work via phone or skype so you can find one anywhere.
