Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Questions Tooth implant

Can oral surgeons perform implant surgery?

I have been advised to go in for a tooth implant. Whom should I visit to get this done; can an oral surgeon carry out the implant procedure?

Yes
General dentists, periodontists, and oral surgeons can all perform implant surgery. I would do due diligence in understanding who you are visiting and their abilities prior to treatment. If your general dentist is not the one placing it, you want to make sure that the specialist is in contact with your dentist so that the final restorative result can be achieved to the best of both's abilities.
Hi,

Oral surgeons can definitely perform implant surgery but don’t restore them, i.e., the crown part. Periodontist, like oral surgeons can place implants, but do not restore. General dentist, if properly trained, can place and restore.

Hope this helps.
Oral surgeons and periodontist are 2 primary specialists dealing with implants.
Oral surgeons have additional expert training in the placement of dental implants and the associated complications. I would recommend seeing one in your area.
