Hand Surgeon Questions Finger pain

I have sharp, shooting pain in my fingers when I type. What could be wrong?

I work in an office, and spent most of my day typing. Lately, when I am on my computer, I am experiencing a sharp, shooting pain in my hand that will come sporadically throughout the day. What could be causing this? Are there any remedies I can use to help prevent this pain?

This sounds like it could be carpal tunnel syndrome. It is important to always seek a medical evaluation by a licensed professional to ensure it is not the manifestation of something more serious. You also want to seek help sooner rather than later to prevent any further damage to the area.
There are many possibilities what may cause this, but most likely this represents a tendinitis, which is an irrational of the tendons in the hand and/or fingers. This is usually not cause for concern. In most cases, this can improve with stretching, rest and anti-inflammatory medications, such as motrin or advil, as needed.
Usually, this is just bad ergonomics. But in a nutshell, take frequent breaks. Stretch your forearms frequently. Get up and walk around. Exercise at lunch and eat healthy!
