“Is a pediatrician trained for treating a child with autism?”
My nephew, who is 3 years old now, is showing symptoms related to autism. There is a delay in his speech and he hardly takes any interest in his surroundings. Can we refer him to a pediatrician, or another type of specialist?

There is a simple questionnaire called the MCHAT that can be given. He also needs hearing and growth checked. If autism is confirmed then he usually needs a speech therapist and a behavioral specialist
