Yes it can. Typically we like to get imaging to get a better idea of total kidney volume - usually a CT scan with contrast - to stage your prognosis and evaluate you for vaptan therapy. In the meantime your nephrologist should prescribe an ACEI or ARB to keep your blood pressure <115/75, a statin to improve endothelial function, and counsel you to eat a low sodium diet and drink enough to produce 2 liters of urine daily. Also make sure you are getting adequate calcium in your diet and any new difficulty or burning with urination or unexplained blood in urine or flank pain should be evaluated as PKD patients are high risk for cyst bleeding and/or infection.
This disease may have a treatment now, but it is controversial whether it will really is a breakthrough. I hope that you will be seen by a nephrologist, so that you can learn more about the disease.
