Orthopaedic Surgeon Questions Hip bone surgery

What's the usual recovery time after hip surgery?

I am scheduled to undergo a hip surgery next week. What is the typical recovery time? I'm particularly active, and I want to go back to exercising as soon as I would be able to.

6 weeks
This varies depending on the specific procedure. 3-5 months can be expected.
It depends on the type of surgery. If you are having hip replacement surgery , you should be able to resume all normal activity at roughly 3 months after the procedure.
After hip surgery (I presume replacement), in my experience, patients are out of bed and walking with assistance within one or two days. With post-surgery vigorous physical rehabilitation, one can expect a resumption of full mobility within a month or two and a return to full pre-op activities within six months. Yet all depends on how realistic the expectations and, of course, it varies with the individual (age, comorbidities, and stamina).
Depends on the type of hip surgery. Expect three months.
You should be able to return to exercise in 6-12 weeks. Ask your doctor if you have any limitations.
The recovery from his surgery will depend on exactly what surgery you are about to undergo. I am assuming you are about to proceed with a total hip arthroplasty. A total hip replacement is a wonderful procedure which has very little postoperative pain. You should be allowed to ambulate full weight bearing immediately after the surgery. We usually tell people to allow the soft tissues to recover for about 6 weeks. At that time, you should be able to begin resuming activities as tolerated.
Depends on the type of hip surgery and technique.
